Based on previous research, students had difficulty understanding the concept of trigonometry, so they had difficulty applying the common trigonometric formula, explaining each one's relation to the comparative trigonometry, and performing calculations and algebra calculations. This type of research is qualitative research descriptive. The subject of the study is a student in the mathematics education semester for two academic years, 2023-2024. Randomly selected research samples using simple random sampling. Analyzing five student responses in the Trigonometry course reveals variations in conceptual understanding based on the APOS theory. Some students successfully followed the stages of action, process, object, and schema comprehensively, while others struggled to apply the correct concepts, particularly in solving problems using trigonometric principles. From this research, it can be concluded that it is important to understand the concept of trigonometry so that the subject can answer a question based on APOS theory
2024-05-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Prinsip Pendidikan Matematikahttps://jprinsip.ejournal.unri.ac.id/index.php/jpri/article/view/236APPLICATION OF THE PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR SEVENTH GRADE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS2024-08-18T14:40:16+00:00Nur Nilam Sarinur.nilam2892@gmail.comNahor Murani Hutapeanahorm.hutapea@lecturer.unri.ac.idTiti Solfitrititi.solfitri@lecturer.unri.ac.id
This research aims to improve the mathematics learning process and outcomes of class VII students at SMPN 3 Sabak Auh on whole number and fraction operations. One way to determine the level of students' ability to solve mathematical problems is with the SOLO taxonomy. This taxonomy consists of five levels: Prestructural, Unistructural, Multistructural, Relational, and Extended Abstract. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were taken from 3 students in class X-4 of SMA Negeri 1 Jombang, and the criteria were that students had high, medium, and low mathematics abilities. The data collection methods used were tests, interviews, documentation, and supporting instruments in the form of problem-solving tests, interview guides, and documentation. Time triangulation was carried out to check the validity of the research data. The results of research on mathematical problem-solving abilities based on the SOLO taxonomy for subjects with high mathematical abilities and subjects with moderate mathematical abilities show that the subjects are at the Extended Abstract level, which means that the subjects can prove the truth regarding the results obtained so that the results obtained are relevant so that the subjects can make hypotheses in the form of formulas, patterns, or rules for solving problems. Students can generalize or apply mathematical concepts involved in the problem to similar situations or problems. Subjects with low mathematical ability indicate that the subject is at the Multistructural level, which means the subject can describe the steps in solving the problem, but there are still calculation errors.
2024-05-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Prinsip Pendidikan Matematikahttps://jprinsip.ejournal.unri.ac.id/index.php/jpri/article/view/232THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING (PBL) MODEL TO ENHANCE MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS OF GRADE VIII STUDENTS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL2024-08-18T14:39:58+00:00Miya Anita Lenimiya.anita2595@student.unri.ac.idSehatta Saragihsehatta.saragih@lecturer.unri.ac.idSusda Helenisusda.heleni@lecturer.unri.ac.id
The improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving skills (KPMM) is a significant aspect of this research, which also aims to enhance the quality of the learning process.
