This research used a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: a control group taught using conventional methods and an experimental group taught using the Inquiry Learning model with a Real-Life Context approach. The instrument used was a mathematical understanding test administered as pretest and posttest. The results showed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher posttest scores than the control group, indicating an improvement in students' mathematical understanding. These findings supported the hypothesis that connecting learning to real-life situations could enhance students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. Therefore, the Inquiry Learning model with a Real-Life Context approach was considered effective in teaching trigonometry. The study recommended that teachers apply this model and integrate real-life contexts into learning materials to support student understanding.
Mesa Riwanda, Hepsi Nindiasari Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Prinsip Pendidikan Matematika https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://jprinsip.ejournal.unri.ac.id/index.php/jpri/article/view/290 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 INVESTIGATION OF METACOGNITION IN MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM SOLVING AMONG STUDENTS IN THE TRANSFORMATION GEOMETRY COURSE https://jprinsip.ejournal.unri.ac.id/index.php/jpri/article/view/308
This research aims to investigate the metacognitive processes of students when solving transformation geometry problems, with an emphasis on the transition from initial intuition to the formalization of mathematical concepts. Metacognitive abilities, which include awareness, monitoring, and control of the thinking process, play an important role in the success of advanced mathematical problem-solving. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach applied to explore the metacognitive strategies employed by students in the mathematics education program. Data were collected through transformation geometry tests, interviews with students, and observations of the problem-solving process. The research results show that students go through a series of metacognitive stages, starting from the problem-solving planning stage, the problem-solving execution stage, and the problem-solving evaluation stage. However, metacognitive obstacles were also found, such as difficulties in monitoring work steps and critically evaluating solutions. These findings have important implications for the development of learning strategies that support students' metacognitive awareness in transformation geometry learning.

Padma Mike Putri M Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Prinsip Pendidikan Matematika https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://jprinsip.ejournal.unri.ac.id/index.php/jpri/article/view/308 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000
