APPLICATION OF THE PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES OF EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects that has an important role, mathematics is studied by students starting from elementary, junior high, high school and even to lectures. One of the learning models that can improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students is to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. Problem Based Learning is a learning model designed so that students gain important knowledge, which makes them proficient in solving problems and having the skills to participate in teams. This research has the aim of improving the learning process so that it can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of SMPN 8 Pekanbaru students in the subject matter of flat-sided shapes in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. This research was conducted at SMPN 8 Pekanbaru for VIII.F students in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. Based on the results it was found that the actions taken by the researcher were successful due to an improvement in the learning process by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in class VIII-F SMP N 8 Pekanbaru, as well as an increase in the mathematics learning outcomes of students in class VIII-F SMP N 8 Pekanbaru.
