UTILIZING ANDROID-BASED MEDIA TO IMPROVE MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES ON PRISM MATERIAL FOR GRADE VIII

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the use of Android-based media can improve mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of prisms for eighth-grade students. The Geometry Adventure application was used as the learning medium, which can be accessed offline, providing interactive content through text, images, and illustrations, as well as including practice questions and immediate feedback. This research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles with 34 eighth-grade students from SMP Muhammadiyah 22 Setiabudi Pamulang as subjects. The results showed a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes, with an average score of 62 and a completion rate of 53% in cycle I, and an increased average score of 79 with a completion rate of 74% in cycle II. The implications of this study suggest that the use of Android-based media can enhance mathematics learning outcomes, provide a more enjoyable learning experience, and encourage student engagement in mathematics learning, making it an effective alternative in the classroom learning process.
