OPTIMIZING MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH DISCOVERY LEARNING FOR SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS
Abstrak
This study aims to investigate the implementation of the Discovery Learning (DL) model in improving the learning process and mathematics learning outcomes of students on the topic of Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities in Class VII at SMP Negeri 43 Pekanbaru during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. This research involved 26 students who participated in Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data were collected through observations and tests, then analyzed using descriptive narrative analysis and descriptive statistics. The results indicate a significant improvement in the learning process at each meeting, both in terms of teacher and student engagement. In Cycle II, the proportion of students achieving the Minimum Competency Standards (KKTP) increased from 61.53% in Cycle I to 80.76%. This improvement demonstrates that students successfully enhanced their understanding of the concepts of Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities through the application of the DL model. Thus, this study proves that the DL model can enhance the quality of mathematics education at the junior high school level.
