THE USE OF ANDROID-BASED LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE STUDENT MOTIVATION IN GRADE VIII PYRAMID LESSONS
Abstract
This study aims to examine the use of Android-based learning media in enhancing the learning motivation of eighth-grade students. The research was conducted due to the discovery of students struggling to learn mathematics, particularly geometric shapes. Students experienced difficulties visualizing geometric figures, and the monotonous teaching methods used by teachers made students feel bored, uninterested, and unmotivated to learn mathematics, which ultimately affected their academic performance. This study is a Classroom Action Research with a research sample consisting of 25 students at SMP Muhammadiyah 22 Setiabudi Pamulang. Data collection techniques included observation, tests in the form of questions, motivation questionnaires, and interviews. The results revealed that the use of Android-based learning media positively impacted the improvement of students' learning motivation, accompanied by an increase in their mathematics learning outcomes. This was evidenced by the average percentage of students' learning motivation in the first cycle being 49.96%, which increased to 66.67% in the second cycle. This study demonstrates that the utilization of Android-based learning media through the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach is not only effective in enhancing students' motivation and learning outcomes but also provides a reflective and systematic framework that can be applied to the development of technology-based learning across various disciplines.
